Blood Bath Part 2 - His first test came back questionable for an iron deficiency so the Dr. wanted to run a different test to confirm. His arm was still bruised from the first time so they tried the other arm and got only a few drops after several pokes. So back to the bruised arm for another stick and lots of tears. It was awful, but the good news is his iron level came back normal.

Blood Bath

Today was Holden's 9 month check up. I knew there were no shots this time but a routine blood test to check his iron level. I was expecting a little finger poke or maybe even the heel but was unpleasantly surprised to learn they take it from his arm, like an adult. He was belly up to the "blood bar" (the row of bar stools and high counter) with the rest of the patients. The tech did a great job and he only cried for a split second. He was fascinated with her blue hands (gloves) and glasses. I was due for some bloodwork too so we left with matching bandages.

His stats:
Weight - 20lb, 12 oz (51%)
Height - 29.75 in (89%)
Head - 18.75 in (96%), good brain development per the Dr.

Here he is back home in the land of toys and cheerios proudly displaying his bandage.
